Alexa Sky Botanicals Rooibos & Roses Bath Oil Review

It's FRIDAY!  That means it is time to regroup, reboot, and recenter ourselves so we are running at 100% again.  And what better way to recharge than with the ultimate weekend pamper session?!  Mine features one of my favourite bath oils, Rooibos & Roses from Alexa Sky Botanicals!  So grab a glass of wine, light a candle, and get ready to lay back and wash your worries away.

Alexa Sky Botanicals is a brand I just can't rave about enough -- you may remember when I discovered my very first ASB treat via Rare Beauty back in May, and my love has continued to grow over the months.  Their range of beauty and wellbeing products are so special and work to nurture not just your skin, but also your mind.  Each item is handmade in Surrey and is free from all the common nasties like parabens, synthetic dyes and fragrances, GMOs, and mineral oils.  Plus, like everything I present here on The ecoLogical, their entire range is cruelty free -- no animal testing is ever necessary to pamper your skin!

I have been lucky enough to test out five* of Alexa Sky Botanicals' products this year: Cactus Fruit Eye Serum, and the Healthy Skin Travel Essentials Kit that includes The One Balm Original English Lavender, Zen Mist Facial Essence Toner, Phyto Power Complex Facial Oil, and Rooibos & Roses Bath Oil.  Each and every product brings their own special qualities, but all work to provide real results and "to create a moment in your day to experience an incredible skin nurturing and beauty ritual."

I am all about practicing self-care, and I wholeheartedly believe that discovering an effective ritual that treats you both inside and out can play a huge role in overall wellness.  So, when I was asked if I would like to do a full review of the luxurious Rooibos and Roses Bath Oil*, I knew this would be the perfect opportunity to explain how skincare products like those from Alexa Sky Botanicals can benefit both mental and physical wellbeing.

Rooibos and Roses is a crystal charged bath oil made with 78% organic ingredients, and it is one of three bath and body products offered by Alexa Sky Botanicals.  The bath oil is infused with rooibos, a purifying and antibacterial evergreen shrub, and contains full rose buds that add to the delicately balanced scent.  The blend is inspired by African culture and Japanese bathing rituals, making this a unique fusion from the very core of its being.

In Japan, having a bath is much more than simply 'bathing' -- it is an experiential tradition that involves fairly strict pre-soak rituals that prime you for an almost meditative state.  Whether one is going to a public bathhouse or looking to luxuriate in onsen, the custom is the same -- you fully wash before entering the bath.  Since cleaning the body is not a part of the soak itself, the time in the tub (or hot spring) is spent in a condition of peaceful awareness where the main task is not cleansing the skin, but the mind and soul.

Rooibos and Roses is the ideal bath oil for an experience driven by tranquility -- the formula is indulgent in both feel and scent, and the fragrant notes of neroli, frankincense, sandalwood, orange, and bergamot assist in calming the mind, prompting positivity, fostering creative thoughts, and restoring energies.  Plus, there are added benefits brought by amethyst which has been infused into the finished product.  This quartz crystal is believed to be a calming, meditative stone that promotes feelings of contentment, peace, and awareness.  Amethyst is also known for its ability to soothe itching, relive tension headaches, and relieve skin irritations, making it the perfect addition to the Rooibos & Roses bath oil.

You all know I love a good soak in the tub -- it is how I like to end every week and I take a Japanese approach to bathing and view my time in the water as a total recharge.  If I am going to use any scrubs or cleansers or other products, I do so before filling the bath, and I let my experience be one of total relaxation.  That is why I adore Alexa Sky Botanicals' bath oil so much -- it does not distract from the ritual of bathing and allows you to just be at one with your mind and body.

Rooibos and Roses disperses really nicely in the water, something that is really important to me when choosing a great bath oil -- it does not just sit on top in a thick layer, but actually mixes with the running water to create a soak that is hydrating without being slick.  To be honest, I have never come across an oil that dissipates so fully, and I really enjoy the effect.  Once 1-2 tbsp is poured in, the golden oils turn into almost a milky consistency and slowly spreads throughout the bath and across your skin.  The rooibios infused argan, avocado, and almond then begin to work their magic, moisturizing and regenerating the cells and smoothing the texture of your skin.

If you want a little something extra for your bath, I have found that adding a small amount of foaming gel or a similar product (anything with a gentle sudsing effect) makes for the ultimate bath experience and the perfect pamper session.  The bubbles and bath oil blend together to produce an amazingly aromatic foam that slowly works to soothe mind and body -- what more can you wish for??  Just be sure the foam you choose is fragrance free, as you really don't want to compromise the gorgeous scents from the Rooibos & Roses oil.

Once in, lean back, close your eyes, and just feel the sensation of the water.  Take in the aromas surrounding you.  Breathe in, and just let everything start to relax.

And if you don't have a bath, don't fret --  I've tried this ASB oil out in the shower and it works just as well! Just apply as you would a body oil, hop into a steamy shower, and let the oils slowly melt off and fill the room with their uplifting aroma.  Your skin will be left feeling soft and smooth, and not at all greasy! This is perfect for mornings especially I have found, as it really helps your senses boot up and your mind primed for a positive day.

Are you prepping for the ultimate pamper session this weekend?  What is your routine??  Whatever it is, just be sure to treat your mind as well as your body to really reap the benefits of a selfcare session, and try to unwind so you can fully recharge.  You will feel so blissful, trust me!

As for me, I'll be enjoying Rooibos & Roses bath oil, having a long soak with a glass of wine and some soft indie music playing, and just letting my thoughts roam and body float while the water washes my week's worries away.

If you want to try Alexa Sky Botanicals' bath oil for yourself, then I've got an extra special treat for you this payday weekend -- ASB has been kind enough to offer you eco-lovelies an exclusive 20% this hydrating and calming bath treatment!!  You can enter code Winterbeauty18 anytime from now (October 26th) until November 2nd and land 20% off the full size bottle!

*** UPDATE -- it's our lucky day! ASB has decided to extend the discount until Sunday (Nov 4th) so all you eco-lovelies have the whole weekend to grab your very own bottle of Rooibos & Roses! ***

I would love to hear if you try this lovely oil, and what your thoughts are.  So be sure to let me know in the comments! xx

* All products mentioned in this review have been either fully or partially gifted -- I personally purchased the Cactus Fruit Eye Serum and received this alongside several items that were provided compliments of Rare Beauty upon their launch, and I was gifted both the Health Skin Travel Essentials Kit and the full size Rooibos & Roses Bath Oil by Alexa Sky Botanicals.  However, this has not nor will it ever change my approach to my reviews, nor will it influence how I represent the products I am writing about, as I only choose to represent or work with brands and companies that I 100% respect and trust.

  1. I love the idea of a relaxing bath with this Bath Oil. Sadly my bathroom is too full of kids' stuff to be relaxing but perhaps I should reclaim it for a grown up soak!
