About Lyonsleaf:

Like I mentioned in my skinimalism post, I adore Lyonsleaf for making budget friendly and effective formulas that are not only natural but plastic free.  But they really take things to the next level by being so confident in their range.  This British eco beauty brand skips the call for targeted treatments and instead opts for multi-purpose products that can be used to tackle whatever skin or hair problem that comes up.  Made using home grown ingredients on a small farm in Somerset, this ethical business believes in a waterless method that further minimizes waste as well as the power of plant oils, butters, and waxes.

"Lyonsleaf have crafted innovative, award winning products that glide on, absorbing quickly and conveniently like a water-based cream. The difference is you will feel the benefit for much longer because Lyonsleaf products, made with 100% pure plant oils do not evaporate from the skin like a water-based cream. Plant oils repair and maintain skin barrier, helping skin seal in moisture for superior hydration, plumping skin and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles all day long."

Lyonsleaf supplies a skinimalist lineup that helps conscious consumers minimize the number of products in their cupboards as well as the amount of synthetics applied to the skin.  By harnessing unrefined cold processed natural compounds like babassu and shea, the creations preserve the highly beneficial qualities of the ingredients and offer a way to help repair and maintain the skin barrier while also sealing in moisture.

With seven products to choose from, Lyonsleaf keeps things simple for your wallet and skin.  There are vegan options, fragranced and unfragranced versions of the famous Beauty Balm and Marshmallow Soften and Rejuvenate Facial Oil, plus green goodies for hair, face, legs, and more with the Mane Tamer, Calendula Cream, Body Butter, Calendula and Marshmallow Balm, and Zinc and Calendula Cream.  With just a few products all your beauty woes from top to toe are addressed!

Lyonsleaf Review:

I have had the joy of trying almost everything in the range, but today I want to focus on two of the fan favourites - the Beauty Balm and the Calendula and Marshmallow Balm.  Both are brilliant multi-taskers, are gentle on the skin, offer a dose of moisture that protects and heals, and are affordable while also being plastic free!

Lyonsleaf Beauty Balm:

The classic staple in the Lyonsleaf range has to be the Beauty Balm.  This is a waterless formula that is creamy in colour, relatively solid prior to application, and has an herbal scent with strong notes of rosemary.  This product is a multi-tasker, and can be used as a cleanser, moisturizer, or as a treatment balm depending on what your need is.  I'm not super keen on cleansing with balms, but I did give it a go as there is no coconut oil involved, and it was a lovely experience.  It melts away makeup with ease, and is so gentle.  Plus, the scent is really soothing and enlivening making it the perfect thing to breathe in when doing your skincare routine both morning and night.

Ingredients: (95% organic/wild harvest): orbignya oleifera [cold pressed babassu oil] • butyrospermum parkii [raw organic shea butter] • macadamia ternifolia [organic, cold pressed, macadamia nut oil] • simmondsia chinensis [organic, cold pressed, jojoba oil] • prunus amygdalus dulcis [cold pressed sweet almond oil] • tocopherol [natural vitamin E oil] • cymbopogon martinii [palmarosa essential oil]• salvia sclarea [clary sage essential oil] • styrax benzoin [benzoin resin] • pogostemon cablin [patchouli essential oil] • rosemarinus officinalis [organic rosemary essential oil] • calendula officinalis • [calendula flower extract] • note: the essential oils naturally contain: citral, geraniol, benzyl benzoate, benzyl cinnamate, farnesol, limonene, linolool

Lyonsleaf Calendula and Marshmallow Balm:

While the Beauty Balm is herbal and rich, I find the calendula and marshmallow variety is more orange toned with a salve-like feel and a very light fragrance.  It is very similar to the facial oil (which is a delight to use!) but with a richer texture that helps shield against environmental stressors and protects against daily damage.  I especially like this balm for my hands in particular, as it sorts dry and irritated patches quickly and leaves them looking and feeling soft and healthy.  This is a repairing and restoring treatment I wouldn't be without, and for the price point is such a star.  And with the balm being so incredibly gentle, it can be used on any skin type and even for babies!

Lyonsleaf certainly wows me with its affordable prices, high quality formulations, nurturing ingredients, and sustainable packaging - it's a green beauty brand that I think everyone can enjoy!  And thanks to their waterless multi-tasking creations you can save on waste in multiple ways.  Fewer products in your cupboard means less chance of having to throw out expired and unused treatments, less water used saves valuable resources, and no plastic eliminates unsustainable materials...  It's a win all across the board!

But what do you think??  Are you a fan of Lyonsleaf?  I would love to know which are your favourites from the range.  And if you want to learn more about the other green goodies in the line let me know as I am always up for sharing about them! xx
