Love Lula Beauty Box - August 2019 Review *

Another month, another Love Lula Beauty Box!  And this time I had to wait several weeks to open my August edit as I was away in the US -- a real test of patience!  But it was well worth the wait, as I discovered a few fabulous products inside the end of summer subscription.

The latest box included five products - one sample sachet and four full sizes.  I thought the products were great for this month, as they combine the needs of summer skin while also looking forward towards the cooler autumn days.  There were a few I can't use due to ingredients, but overall I was really pleased with this box and I discovered several green goodies I had never tried before!

Ayumi Tumeric Body Wash Sample (10ml):
Ayumi seems to be a brand growing in popularity with those over in the Love Lula Natural Beauty Club group, and they are now appearing in the Beauty Box for the third time now.  Subscribers were sent a sample to try out this time, and if they like the sachet they can then grab 25% off thanks to the generous discount included with the box!

Ayumi's Tumeric Body Wash was created to cleanse your skin and stimulate your cells, balance your natural oils and even complexion, and energize your senses, all for a super affordable price.  This is a brand that is great for those on a budget, or for those looking for a fragrant, vegan friendly bath and shower product.

Ayumi Tumeric Body Wash - Love Lula Beauty Box August 2019

Cleanse your skin with our zesty Turmeric Body Wash, with a luxurious texture and an enchanting fragrance. With this unique and energising formulation of Turmeric Extract, Amla Extract, Mandarin Oil, Papaya Extract and Argan Oil, your skin will be left feeling deeply cleansed, refreshed and protected.

Unfortunately the formula includes phenoxyethonal, so I will not be able to use the sample myself.  As I've said before, this preservative causes extreme reactions for me personally (redness, acne, and sometimes a burning sensation for face, scalp, and sometimes body as well), so I don't want to risk the irritation and sensitivity that often accompanies usage.  However, I know that many people don't have any issues with phenoxyethonal, so those who can use this ingredient will be pleased to be able to try another product from this up and coming brand.  I'll be adding this into my upcoming giveaway, so if you are an Ayumi fan keep an eye out for that!

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Coco-Glucoside, Carica Papaya Fruit Papaya Extract, Polysorbate 20, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates Copolymer, Parfum (Fragrance), Glyceryl Oleate, Sodium Chloride, Glyceryl Laurate, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, Argania (Argan) Spinosa Kernel Oil, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Cymbopogon Schoeanthus Oil, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Phyllanthus Emblica Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Limonene, Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral, Cintronellol

Further Recommendations:

To be honest, many of the Ayumi formulas just don't suit my needs as they include harsh alcohols or phenoxyethonal.  However, the pressed oils sound lovely and I am sure I will pick up a few when I need a top up!  And the scrub from a previous month's box smells so lovely.

Madara Eye Contour Cream (15ml/£26):
Madara is another Love Lula favourite, so I was of course happy to find another full size product within the August edit.  Earlier in the year subscribers were sent the Deep Moisture Gel, a product I ended up loving as it is light on the skin and non-clogging, so I was super keen to try out the Eye Contour Cream.

Unlike the previous "Deep Moisture" creation I have tried, this formula is a little thicker and is a true cream consistency.  However, it is surprisingly absorbent and doesn't feel at all heavy on the skin.  The Eye Contour has an almost fluid-like aspect to it, making it super easy to apply and not at all wet or sticky once applied.  In fact, it's like I am not wearing anything at all!

Madara Deep Moisture Eye Contour Cream - Love Lula Beauty Box August 2019

Another bonus is there is no white sheen.  I actually took a step back from eye creams for a long time, opting instead for an oil or gel as I found they were generally more suited for my skin type and I liked that they didn't leave you having to massage in product for ages.  Well, Madara has got me rethinking creams, that's for sure!  This is proving perfect for the summer heat, but I think it will also serve me well come winter as despite the light feeling, it is actually pretty potent.

Madara's Eye Contour Cream works to reduce puffiness under your eyes, brighten and tighten, and prevent the appearance of fine lines, plus it is hydrating!  I'm finding this helps you look more radiant and awake, and much like the Time Miracle line it gives you a firming treatment that leaves you feeling all the more confident.  I will say this is slightly less effective on any dark circles/wrinkles than the other range, but honestly I prefer this one as it is so much more suited to my skin (plus this one smells better!).

Something extra special about Madara is they back up their claims with reported results.  This dermatologically tested formula had 97% report back that they experienced "firmer, smoother, visibly brighter skin" after use.  All without the need for any 'nasty' ingredients!  The Deep Moisture Eye Contour Cream is 100% natural and vegan friendly, plus contains several organic ingredients like aloe vera, rose water, avocado oil, and a variety of herbal extracts.  Definitely another win in my book!

Ingredients: Aqua, Rosa Damascena (Rosa) Flower Water, Alcohol, Glycerin, Decyl Cocoate, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Behenyl Alcohol, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse-chestnut) Seed Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Lecithin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Xanthan Gum, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, CI 77019 (Mica), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Sodium Phytate, Aroma

Further Recommendations:
I have tried a LOT of Madara products thanks to Love Lula.  You can find my thoughts on various formulas by clicking the "Madara" tag at the bottom of this post if you are interested in reading more about the brand and what they offer.  One of my stand outs is the Active AHA Brightening Peel Mask, and also the Smart Antioxidants range which works amazing on drier and more mature skin types.

Laidbare In Safe Hands (50ml/£6.99):
It's been a while since subscribers have seen Laidbare inside the Love Lula Beauty Box, so I was of course pleased to find a full size bottle of their In Safe Hands cream inside the August collection.  Laidbare is a fab budget friendly brand, and I have found several products I've loved from their range in the past.  And actually, this isn't my first time using In Safe Hands!

This vegan friendly hand cream is a lovely addition to this edit, especially as we will be moving into more autumnal weather before long.  The texture is thick, but not clawing or congesting, and it absorbs fully making this a great product to heal, protect, and nourish your hands and feet.

Laidbare Sunflower hand cream is the ultimate intensive moisture cream for very dry hands. Everyday exposure leaves your hands thirsty and dry. Quench them with this fabulously aromatic cream and feel the difference as the skin soaks up all the nourishing properties. Organic shea butter has the ability to spread evenly and absorb almost instantly into skin, known for its intense healing properties and gives the hand cream a lovely consistency. Sunflower oil is perfect for distressed hard working hands; deeply moisturising. Vitamin C is an antioxidant known to rejuvenate and strengthen the skin.

While this does have a slight aroma to it, it's faint and not at all overwhelming.  It's slightly sweet and nutty, very delicate, and ideal for those looking for something less in your face than comparable products.  And since it does not have a strong scent, it is perfect for morning, evening, or an afternoon top up!

Since I already have a bottle on the go, I will be adding this unopened one into my upcoming giveaway as well - someone is going to be well spoiled soon!!

Ingredients: Aqua Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter Butyrospermum Parkii Butter Glyceryl Stearate SE Isopropyl Myristate Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil Stearic Acid Persea Gratissma Oil Glycerin Benzyl Alcohol Parfum Tocopherol Linalool Dehydroacetic Acid Geraniol Limonene Benzyl Benzoate Benzyl Salicylate Farnesol Eugenol Citral

Further Recommendations:
I've tried a handful of Laidbare goodies, and some of the favourites in our house are the Pack Your Bags eye cream and the For Richer For Porer mask.  I am also fond of the Hair Today Gone Tomorrow treatment during the summer months.  Next on my list to try is the Spot the Difference blemish cream, as it is such a good price!

Inika Lip Glaze in "Rosewood" (5ml/£18):
This might just be my favourite product inside the August box!  Of course I love Inika, as I find their vegan friendly, organic, all natural formulas stellar, but I have not actually gotten around to trying their lip glaze.  That is, until now!

Inika Lip Glaze in Rosewood - Love Lula Beauty Box August 2019

This 77% organic lip glaze is made with shea butter, rosehip and jojoba Oils, and candelilla wax, making this a moisturizing treat for your lips as well as a beautiful pop of colour.  It's designed to heal, hydrate, offer shine, and rejuvenate while you wear it, plus it smells so lovely thanks to the added orange essential oil!

Wear INIKA Lip Glazes on their own for a soft, subtle look, or layer over your favourite lipstick for a vibrant pop of colour. Made using all natural ingredients & with a safe, non-toxic formula. Plus the soft wand allows for easy application.

Rosewood is a stunning shade, and one that really ended up winning me over.  At first I thought it would be far too red for me, as inside the tube it looks like a toasty metallic cinnabar colour.  However, once on the lips it is much more natural and understated, and much more suited to my skin tone and hair.  This is like a shimmery, dusky pink - it's deep, yet vibrant, a complex and feminine rosy tone with hints of a more fierce copper lurking beneath, and totally gorgeous.

I love that this is a gloss, as I find that so summery and youthful, but I also appreciate that it is not super sticky.  This does take a while to settle I find, and it never completely dries down, though that may be because I load it up for the pigment.  It's fairly nourishing, especially if you use a light balm underneath, and it doubles as a great lip topper!  Overall, this is a wonderful discovery, and I'm so happy I have been able to try it out thanks to Love Lula.

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax*, Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla Oil) Fruit Extract*, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Iron Oxide (CI 77491). *Certified Organic

Further Recommendations:
I have quite a few Inika goodies in my collection (many of which you can find reviews of or at least snippets of here on The ecoLogical!).  Some of my favourites are the lipsticks and the loose mineral eyeshadows.  Another treat on my list is the mascara as I've heard so many good things about it!

Nature's Kitchen Rescue Cream (50ml/£8.99):
This is a brand that has only recently been added to Love Lula, so I was curious to try some of their products out.  With UK sourced organic and natural plant and fruit based ingredients, no artificial fragrance, no animal products, and no animal cruelty, this is a brand that offers a range of products spanning many budgets and needs.

For August, subscribers have been treated to their Gentle Therapy Rescue Cream, which at first caused some confusion, both for me and for those over on the group.  Two hand creams in one box??  But, as was quickly noted, this isn't *just* a hand cream, but an all-purpose product that can be used for all sorts of dry spots.

Nature's Kitchen Rescue Cream - Love Lula Beauty Box August 2019

With evening primrose to help skin retain natural moisture, borage seed oil to reduce inflammation and skin flare-ups and tamanu oil as the perfect anti-inflammatory.  Perfect for all skin needs, from dry, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis prone skin to sunburn and daily irritation.  Also great as a daily hand cream to protect and nourish deep down whilst reducing the appearance of age spots/pigmentation.   Perfect for skin that needs a little TLC.  Our Skin Therapy Rescue Cream is your little tube of joy.   For all skin types and needs.

I wish I could try this out, as it sounds lovely, but as this contains both phenoxyethonal (an ingredient that causes me sensitivities as explained above) and coconut oil (an ingredient that congests my skin and leads to breakouts for me personally), this is another product I will be passing on to someone who it is more suited for.  I would love to hear from anyone who has used this though to hear how you got on!

Ingredients: Aqua (water), cetearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60, palm free vegetable glycerin, organic grape seed (vitis vinifera) oil, organic olive oil (olea europaea), organic coconut oil (cocos nucifera), organic shea butter (butyrospermum parkii), organic apricot kernel oil (prunus armeniaca), bacuri virgin (platonia insignis seed) butter, palm stearic acid, xanthan gum, organic plum kernel extract (prunus domestica), jojoba (simmondsia chinensis) oil, borage seed oil (borago officinalis), evening primrose oil (oenothera biennis), chamomile (anthemis nobilis flower) oil, safflower (carthamus tinctorius) oil, tamanu (calophyllum inophyllum) oil, organic aloe vera leaf juice (Aloe Barbadensis), organic rose hips oil (rosa rubginosa), green tea (camellia sinensis) extract, flaxseed (linum usitatissimum) oil, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerin.

Further Recommendations:
Unfortunately every product I've checked contains phenoxyethonal, so I won't be purchasing anything from this range.  I wish I could because the prices are good and some of the combinations (like kiwi, apple, and cucumber) sound so lovely!
