CBD what is it?
The world is a buzz with CBD talk, but what is this mystery supplement and how can it potentially benefit you?

CBD or cannabidiol is a chemical which is derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant. It is the same plant species from which we get marijuana. The big difference between the two is that despite coming from the same plant, CBD is a completely different chemical compound to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – the psychoactive cannabinoid found in marijuana cannabis which causes you to get “high” when you consume it.

To create CBD oil, the pure extracted Cannabidiol is added to a carrier oil such as hemp seed oil or coconut oil which you can then take through a series of different methods. For CBD to be used within the body it must first be absorbed.

Best ways to take it?
The great thing about CBD is that it can be taken in a variety of different of ways making it accessible to everyone.

The most popular method has been seen to be taking it sublingually via capsules or gels or tinctures by dropping it underneath your tongue and holding it in your mouth for around one minute.

Another great sublingual method is using it in spray bottles. Sublingual sprays are concentrated CBD tinctures that come in little spray bottles that are then sprayed under the tongue.

Another popular way is taking it via vape pen. CBD vapes are concentrated extractions of Cannabidiol in a liquid form. When vaped they are then heated and inhaled. Inhalation is one of the quickest ways for CBD to be absorbed into the blood stream.

Blogger Note: I in no way support anything that can be perceived as supporting the tobacco industry (for both very personal reasons and scientific/eco ones), including e-cigarettes.  While vaping has been deemed by many to be safer than traditional smoking, the research is not complete, and many of the vape cartridges on the market contain a concoction of chemicals that could cause health issues.  Therefore, I suggest you *really* look into what is inside these liquids to ensure they are safe, natural, nontoxic, and non-addictive.  Enhanced Biotics vape cartridges do not contain nicotine, and their ingredients are very clearly listed, and as Tom states, inhalation is recognized as a fast acting method.  Just be safe lovelies!

If you aren’t a fan of taking it sublingually you can apply it topically in a cream or balm format.  These creams are made by infusing aqueous cream or oil with CBD. These creams are best used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation at a targeted local area.

The Benefits
CBD oil has been shown to have a variety of potential benefits. The main benefits being reported within clinical studies and anecdotal have been helping with anxiety, sleep problems, pain relief and reducing inflammation. Studies are in their fledging stages but the results being shown have been promising.

CBD oil and mental health
Despite CBD's non-psychoactive properties, it still retains many of Cannabis sativa's health and medicinal benefits. Benefits which users of Hemp have experienced since atleast 2700 BCE.

Consequently, CBD is known to supplement the effects of the endocannabinoid system in regulating appetite, mood, functions of the immune system, sensation, and keeping our bodies working normally.

You can find clues of CBD's healing properties throughout history in stories like that of the Chinese Emperor Shen Neng who wrote almost 5000 years ago that the Cannabis plant (or Hemp) could be "used to cure absent-mindedness."

Absent-mindedness, as we know from recent studies, is one of the symptoms associated with stress and anxiety.

1. CBD OIL FOR STRESS & ANXIETY

When you experience stress, your body produces an excess of the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol is designed to give you the energy you need to combat a stressor.

The problem, however, is that your modern way of life is full of common types of stress. Things like relationships, work and family-related stress that are imposed on you by the expectations of your peers or society in general, can put your body into a perpetual state of "fight or flight".

When this happens, it's common for you to develop anxiety disorders. If you're already struggling with other mental health issues, you may experience aggravated symptoms, panic attacks, or even manic behaviour.

CBD works to supplement your endocannabinoid system and encourages it to release more endocannabinoids and other hormones and enzymes that induce feelings of calm within you. In this state, your body stops producing Cortisol and returns to a more balanced state, facilitating your own body's natural healing processes.

2. CBD OIL FOR DEPRESSION

When you're depressed, you will usually have a depressed mood, loss of interest in activities that you used to enjoy, sleep disturbance, loss of energy, and reduced ability to think or focus. According to a 2016 study by Mind, almost 4% of the UK population is clinically depressed.

CBD has been found to be an effective natural treatment for the symptoms of depression. It works by modulating the actions of the endocannabinoids whilst facilitating the effects of serotonin by enhancing the activity of the 5-HT1A Seratonin neuro-receptor.

Through this interaction between Serotonin and the receptors in your brain, Serotonin impacts emotions and motor skills. It is also a natural mood stabiliser that helps with sleeping, eating, and digestion. Depression is often linked to low levels of serotonin production.

Using CBD oil can result in the production of more serotonin to help ease the symptoms of this disease.
3. CBD OIL FOR PANIC ATTACKS
Panic attacks can hit you at any time. It has been found, however, that they are much more likely in periods of heightened anxiety.

We've already discussed above how CBD oil acts on the endocannabinoid system to reduce stress and anxiety by helping the body achieve a more relaxed state of being. When combined with the Serotonin producing properties of CBD oil, Panic Attacks are less likely.

A recent study into CBD and public speaking found that users who suffered from anxiety and panic attacks experienced significant reductions in anxiety by taking 600mg of CBD oil an hour and a half before the occasion.

The study concluded that "
Pre-treatment with CBD significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort in their speech performance, and significantly decreased alert in their anticipatory speech."
Whilst more clinical studies are necessary to fully validate the effects of CBD oil for those suffering from mental health conditions, a clear picture is emerging that appears to validate many of the ancient claims of our ancestors.

We already know that CBD oil is safeCBD oil is legal and that the World Health Organisation concluded in a recent study that CBD oil has "been demonstrated as an effective treatment for epilepsy" in adults, children, and even animals, and that there's "preliminary evidence" that CBD could be useful in treating Alzheimer's disease, cancer, psychosis, Parkinson's disease, and other serious conditions.
CBD FAQ - Enhanced Biotics CBD Oil

My experience with CBD oil and Enhanced Biotics.
My family told me about CBD whilst I was studying at university, it was exam season and I was struggling with sleep, stress and anxiety. So, after doing a bit of research I sceptically decided to try some.

After around two weeks my scepticism subsided, and I began to feel some positive effects. I was sleeping straight through the night; the edge had been taken off my anxiety and I was overall feeling a lot calmer all this a week before my exams.

After my exams I began to do a lot of research on CBD and its potential benefits whilst also conducting my own research a reading anecdotal reports from people who had been trying it. I quickly found out that it had the potential to be a versatile and useful supplement. However, there were a lot of new producers coming into the market creating poor quality synthetic CBD with minimal lab testing.

So, I decided to form Enhanced Biotics around the idea of creating a quality, lab tested CBD product range and since then we’ve been growing to include a whole host of CBD linked products. It’s been fantastic seeing how our products have helped a whole range of people. We are now fully committed to enhancing another people’s wellbeing.

Ambassador wellness scheme
Our wellness program involves recruiting a wide range of local ambassadors, from yoga instructors to fitness trainers, with the same goal of enhancing the wellbeing of others. Our ambassadors are all proponents of CBD and use our products to aid them in their daily regimens. We are aware that there is still a stigma attached to CBD due to its close ties with cannabis, so we hope that by seeing our ambassadors using and talking about CBD and the positive effects they personally experience it will help assure everyone that the product is completely safe and beneficial to use.  Our other motives for the ambassador scheme are to develop a wellness community that helps people to connect, make friends and feel good. Helping people achieve the feeling of wellbeing will lead to more enjoyment in life, better relationships and a healthier community.

Bloggers Note: I have been assured this is *not* a direct sales program, but is indeed a program promoting wellness and the benefits CBD can have for one's wellbeing, and that is why I've included the details here!  If anyone is interested in finding out more, do get in touch with Tom or follow their social accounts!
