Radiance + Detox: Mono Naturoils Luxury Facial Mask Review *

When I saw that Mono Naturoils had been added to the Love Lula lineup I was beyond excited and immediately picked up both their luxury facial masks -- Detox and Radiance.  I've heard fantastic comments about the brand, and since I was running low on 'raw' masks, I knew these would be the perfect addition to my beauty cupboard.  And I couldn't be more pleased.

Mono Naturoils Face Mask - Detox + Radiance

Now, I actually picked these up months and months ago, and of course I feel a bit silly for making you lovelies wait so long for my review.  But when it comes to skincare there is no point in rushing out a review -- I like to see results, observe how various factors effect those results, and make sure I am giving you a post worthy of reading and that proves helpful to those looking into picking up the products.  Plus, as you may know, I'm dragging myself towards the finish line of my PhD, so that doesn't always help either.  I wish I could post more often, and after my thesis is finished I hope I can.  For now though, I hope you enjoy what I do share.

But let's get back to Mono Naturoils.

Founder Tracy began her switch to natural remedies after struggling with rosacea, and her interest in making skincare products born from the power of plants eventually led to the birth of her brand, Mono Naturoils.  This brand was inspired by nature, and strives to provide holistic eco-luxury green beauty products that benefit body, mind and spirit.  Using only plant based ingredients, their vegan friendly high performance creations are handcrafted with love and integrity, and you can really feel the passion that has gone into making each and every bottle.

Harnessing the healing powers of Mother Nature, each of our multi-sensorial delights is thoughtfully created to not only nourish and protect your precious skin, but also enchant the senses and support your well-being. Every ingredient is carefully selected for its therapeutic properties and effectiveness. Working in synergy, these potent, nutrient-rich botanicals and raw ingredients deliver both noticeable results and a truly sensorial and pleasurable experience, helping you to create your own unique self-care rituals every day; deepening your connection to nature and your self.

You can actually read all about Tracey's journey with natural beauty over on The Natural Beauty Box blog -- it's such a great piece, I highly recommend checking it out!  She is such a kind soul, and getting to know more about her process and routines makes me appreciate her creations all the more.

I actually won a giveaway with Mono Naturoils a while back, so I have been slowly trying out more of the range and can say with confidence this is a brand that produces exceptional products on all fronts.  From chakra healing to cleansing, nourishing balms to luscious body oils, everything feels and smells stunning and delivers such a special experience.  Let's start with the face masks, shall we?

Both masks are gorgeous, but each offers their own unique properties, with Detox offering a deep cleanse and Radiance bringing renewed luminosity to the skin.  Take a look at what sets these two apart:

Mono Naturoils Luxury Face Mask - Radiance + Detox

Detox: "A potent blend of superfoods, plant extracts and natural clays, our detox facial mask deeply cleans the skin, removing impurities and toxins to allow your skin to breathe, while delivering vital nutrients and antioxidants to the skin, leaving it healthy and radiant."

First thing I have to say about this mask is it smells mouth wateringly delicious when you open the pot, and continues to show how special it is throughout the whole experience.  It starts juicy, full, and oh so uplifting, and while the scent does develop when activated, this green powder remains just the boost your skin and spirit need at the end of long day or to get you prepared for the work week.

When you first open the jar, you are struck by the brilliant bright green powder and tangy aroma.  I like to call this my Wicked mask, as it makes me feel a bit like Elphaba when wearing it.  The combination opens up your mind as it comes as such a surprise -- detoxifying masks are usually not so invigorating and cheery as this, and the breaking of expectations is part of the process for me.  And this continues once you add water or hydrosol (whatever is your preference!).  The citrus zest transforms into something sharper, and while I admit it is not my favourite scent, it is definitely unique and works to reboot your mental state.  I find it very herbal, slightly acidic, and green in every sense of the word.

Personally I like to use this at the end of the week, as I find it helps me reset both my skin and my mindset -- it doesn't just detoxify your face, but any bad energy you're carrying.  The fragrant camu camu powder paired with grounding and calming lavender, clary sage, and bergamot provide the foundation for a total reset.  I have found mixing and spritzing with chamomile water works a treat, but I have also tried this out with rose water, lavender water, and matcha tea, and each have worked beautifully.  In fact, I recommend playing around with your activator for this mask, as it can help influence the aroma and also adds that little something else to the skincare ritual.

Another tip?  Pop a few drops of your favourite facial oil in (or one that will provide the extra benefits your skin needs), and this detoxifying treatment will evolve into an even more magical moment.  Those with dry or sensitive skin may find this really adds to the masking session, as it will eliminate any potential 'dry' feeling your skin sometimes gets after a proper cleanse.

And this mask definitely offers a deep cleanse thanks to the host of potent ingredients found inside the fine powder, including tumeric, a known source of antioxidants great for its anti-inflammatory properties, and ashwagandha powder, a plant with high levels of free radical fighting antioxidants that can aid in the reduction of wrinkles, dark spots, blemishes, and fine lines.  Check out some of the other wonders inside Mono Naturoils' Detox:

Packed with vitamins and antioxidants, Chlorella and Spirulina nourish the skin, and along with detoxifying Matcha with its anti-inflammatory benefits, deliver antioxidants to protect the skin from damaging free radicals.  Mineral rich, detoxifying green and blue clays draw out impurities and toxins, tighten pores and effectively removes excess oil.  Exfoliating and anti-inflammatory White Willow Bark, which contains natural salicylic acid, unclogs pores, controls sebum production and removes dead skin cells, while Pumpkin, a rich source of gently exfoliating enzymes, antioxidants, beta carotene, and many other vitamins and minerals beneficial to the skin, also gently removes dead skin cells and leaves skin smooth and glowing.

Along with all these stellar superfoods, spices, clays, and natural plant extracts you will also find one of the stars of the show, camu camu.  This Vitamin C powerhouse helps protect against free radicals, prevent premature ageing, even skin tone, fight pigmentation, prompt cellular growth, and even repair and promote collagen production.  Impressive, right??

And that's not even the end of it.  I mentioned before that Mono Naturoils takes a holistic approach to beauty, but haven't touched on one of those aspects yet.  If you are interested in crystals at all, you will know that they are believed to have some powerful energies.  Well, Tracey has incorporated this power in her skincare products so the user can harness these astonishing benefits in their day to day routines.  The Detox Mask is infused and amplified with the high vibrational energy of amethyst, a stone known for its healing and cleansing powers.  Amethyst stimulates the crown chakra, and along with relieving stress, fear, anxiety, and tension, this precious stone can heighten intuition, activate the mind, and protect against negative energies.

Detox works to draw out impurities from the skin, yes, but it also helps cleanse the mind and spirit thanks to the therapeutic essential oils and powerful high vibes from amethyst.  I can feel the change after rinsing off my Wicked skin, as my nerves are calmed, my mind cleared, and my face clean, fresh, and clear.  I love how effective yet gentle Detox is and that I can use it without fear of having a massive breakout the next day.  This is a mask out to make a difference, and I appreciate the hard work that has gone into creating such a sensational formula.

Ingredients:Premium Ceremonial Grade Matcha Powder*, Superfine French Green Clay, Camu Camu Powder*, Superfine Australian Washed Blue Clay, White Willow Bark Extract, Turmeric Powder*, Pumpkin Powder, Spirulina Powder*, Chlorella Powder*, Ashwagandha Powder*, Essential Oils of Lavender *, Bergamot* and Clary Sage*, Good Energy and Love.

Mono Naturoils Luxury Face Mask - Radiance + Detox

Radiance: "A beautiful blend of flower petals, gentle rose clay, superfoods and a multitude of gorgeous nourishing and regenerating ingredients; our radiance facial mask softens, hydrates and gently exfoliates your precious skin, while also delivering vital nutrients and antioxidants, leaving it healthy, and softly glowing."

On the other hand, there is Radiance, a mask so far opposite Detox it is like night and day.  This formulation has a cocoa colour tinged with just a hint of red, and smells delicate but rich, rounded, like a chocolate bar sprinkled with dried berries.  This is a mask for relaxing as much as it is for boosting radiance, and it is for that reason I love it so dearly.

I often worry about trying 'glow up' masks, as my skin can be on the reactive side, but of course Mono Naturoils appreciates that facial treatments should be for all skin types, not just those able to process strong actives.  Radiance offers a chance for even those with sensitive skin to enjoy a fresh looking complexion.

How?  Well, when activated the rose clay works as a gentle exfoliant as well as drawing out impurities, while antioxidant rich ginkgo, red maca, cacao, and milk thistle provide regenerating benefits as well as deep nourishment.  Plus, superfood pumpkin brings a host of impressive qualities, including exfoliating enzymes, vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, and beta caratene, all of which help rejuvenate the skin by removing dead cells and leave your face looking super smooth and fresh.  And of course you can't forget the other powerhouses included in this mask -- grape skin extract which plumps and gives a youth boost, marshmallow root with impressive anti-inflammatory properties, acai berry that offers protection against free radicals, rose petal powder with soothing and softening benefits, hibiscus with its ability to make skin more elastic...  This is truly a hero product.

I prefer to use Radiance in the evening rather than mornings, as I find it helps ground me and ease any residual tension before bedtime.  I mix up the mask, add a few drops of facial oil (I change that up depending on what I feel I need), and then apply the mousse-like paste slowly, breathing in the fragrant notes and letting each exhale bring me closer to total bliss.  I love sitting in the bath while the mask works its magic, rinsing off, finishing off my routine, drifting off to dreamland, and waking up with a total sense of renewal.  My skin is always so clear and bright the day after, and it really does help soften your face and leave it looking healthier than ever.

And did I mention this mask is also crystal infused?  Another reason I am so drawn to Radiance is it has been amplified with the high vibrational energy of ruby, my birthstone.  Ruby is connected to the heart and root chakras, and is a stone that increases life force and encourages you to follow your bliss.  It has a protective effect, helps detoxify the body, aids in improving confidence, and is said to stir the imagination.  Paired with the already potent ingredients included in Radiance, this added infusion makes for a truly holistic experience -- one that combines all the therapeutic qualities of nature, including scent, topical application, and vibrational energies.

"Ruby - a happy, positive stone that encourages joy, passion, spontaneity and an enthusiasm for life! Promotes a clear mind, encourages removal of negative energies from your path, and brings a sense of positivity, confidence and motivation. Helps to overcome exhaustion and lethargy, amplifying energy and vitality."

It's no wonder I get on so well with this mask, right??

Ingredients: Rose Petal Powder*, Superfine French Pink Clay, Ginkgo Biloba Powder*, Rosehip Powder*, Marshmallow Root Powder*, Milk Thistle Powder*, Grape Skin Extract, Red Maca Powder*, Hibiscus Flower Powder, Acai Berry Powder*, Raw Cacao Powder*, Pumpkin Powder, Ashwagandha Powder*, Good Energy and Love.

Mono Naturoils Luxury Face Mask - Radiance + Detox

I love how complex these blends are, and the craft it took to create them shines through -- for example, both masks have such lovely scents and the aroma evolves through every step of the masking process.  Detox has an uplifting citrus scent when in the jar, but as you mix with water (or floral water as I prefer to do) it develops into a clarifying sensation ideal for the deep cleanse occurring with your skin and senses.  Radiance, on the other hand, starts with a softness and transforms into something much more tart and medicinal.  These green goodies are ever-changing and keep you on your toes, which is an unusual and gratifying treat in my opinion.

Each brings their own benefits for skin, and both deliver highly effective outcomes, making each so special in their own way.  I couldn't choose a favourite based on how they work with my skin, as both are equally exceptional,  In fact, I actually like to do targeted masking with these formulas, applying Detox to my t-zone and Radiance to my cheeks and decolletage -- it's amazing the results you get like this!

I'm so happy I can now pick up Mono Naturoils from Love Lula, as it means their "multi-sensorial delights" are now even more accessible.  Are you planning on trying any of their plant powered formulas??  I would love to know what is on your wishlist, or if you have tried the luxury facial masks for yourself already!  Let me know in the comments below xx
