The Natural Beauty Box: Summer Holidays

The sun is shining, the days are warm, and The Natural Beauty Box has arrived just in time for the start of the holidays!  This month's edition revolves around keeping your skin hydrated, glowing, and protected from harmful UV rays.  And what's more, there are some bonus items alongside the usual five main products -- a perfect surprise to kick off the summer!

The brands included in the Summer Holidays box are a great mix of previously featured names and newcomers -- Siskyn, Organii, Conscious Skincare, Rawganic, and Kokoglow.  As always, the sizes of the products is impressive, with four full products, two deluxe samples (50ml each), and one sachet.  I have to say, this might be one of my favourite boxes yet!

Siskyn Grapefruit & Sweet Fennel Toning Body Oil (150ml - £32)

I am thrilled to bits to finally get to try something from Siskyn, and what's more, it is a full size bottle of their Elixir toning oil!  I have been following the brand for ages now, and I have to say the reality is even better than I expected.

Elixir is packed with antioxidant rich oils, and the formula works to tone, boost circulation, detoxify, and firm the skin.  I have only used it a few times so far, but I have already noticed a difference in my legs and arms which had been pretty dry due to the 'heat wave.'  The consistency isn't too thick, nor is it runny, but rather the perfect medium between the two.  I really think this bottle will be the way I keep my skin radiant all summer long.

The scent is nothing like I expected -- I don't get much grapefruit at all really, but the smell is uplifting and calming all the same.  It strangely brings to mind Italian countrysides, like a moment out of Under the Tuscan Sun.  Maybe it is the herby quality that makes me think that!

Ingredients: Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed) Oil, Prunus Persica (Peach) Kernel Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Corylus Avellana (Hazelnut) Seed Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheatgerm) Oil, Nigella Sativa (Black Cumin) Seed Oil, Cupressus Sempervirens (Cypress) Essential Oil, Foeniculum vulgare (Sweet Fennel) Essential Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Essential Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot Seed) Essential Oil, Citrus Bergamia (Bergamot) Essential Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Essential Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Essential Oil, Linalool*, Limonene*, Citral*, Geraniol* *Naturally occurring in essential oils.

Conscious Skincare Grapefruit, Lemon & Cedarwood Body Wash (50ml - £2.60)

Next up was a body wash from Conscious Skincare, a brand that actually appeared in the last edition of The Natural Beauty Box as well.  Unlike the Siskyn oil, I definitely get an immediate hit of grapefruit when I unscrew the cap to this product, and it is so zesty and refreshing!  The cedarwood gives the body wash relaxing qualities as well, and serves as the perfect second note to this gel.

The wash is designed to tone by refreshing dull or tired looking skin, plus balance out the natural oils -- perfect for the coming summer!  I also like that the body wash cleanses well and leaves your body feeling clean but without any residue.  The formula lathers up really well compared to other natural shower gels I have used in the past, and so far I am really happy with how it smells and feels.

Ingredients: aqua, potassium sunflowerate*, potassium cocoate*, glycerin*, potassium citrate, decyl glucoside, grapefruit (citrus grandis) essential oil, lemon (citrus limonum) essential oil, cedarwood (cedrus atlantica) essential oil *denotes organic

Rawganic Aloe Vera Facial Wipes (25 wipes - £3)

I know I have raved about Rawganic's facial wipes several times in the past, but I have to reiterate how much I love these.  Not only are the wipes free from plastic fibers since they are made with 100% organic cotton, but they are also free from the pesky (and seemingly persistent!) phenoxyethonal.  I'm not sure why, but it seems like most natural face wipes use this irritant as a preservative, meaning I cannot use them without my face turning bright red and feeling like it is on fire.  Luckily, Rawganic is 99% natural and totally free from nasties.

The pomegranate wipes are actually my favourite from the range, but the aloe vera ones are equally as effective and just as handy to have for rushed mornings, travel, or while you are out and about.  The formula is made to cleanse, tone, moisturize, and refresh all in one, meaning you do not need to faff about with other skincare steps if you do not have time or energy.  The aloe within the wipe is perfect for soothing the skin after a long day out in the sun, and is safe and gentle enough for sensitive skin.

Ingredients: Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice powder*, Polyglyceryl-4 caprate**, Betaine**, Benzyl alcohol, Camellia sinensis leaf extract*, Dehydroacetic acid, Benzoic acid, Sorbic acid, Sodium citrate, Potassium sorbate, Ascorbic acid, Citric acid. *ingredients from organic farming    **natural origin

Kokoglow Pink Kisses Salt Body Scrub (200g - £15)

I had not heard of Kokoglow before, and new green beauty discoveries are always exciting to me so I was happy to have a full size bag of the "Pink Kisses" salt scrub in the June beauty box.  The product smells delicious -- like a tropical drink -- and the salts are incredibly hydrating thanks to four types of oils and added jojoba beads.  This might just be one of the more luxurious salt scrubs I have tried!

The pouch is resealable which I was pleased with, as this means the product can stay fresh.  While there is no measuring scoop provided, I found my wooden masking spoon got out the perfect amount (about 5 grams or so).  The salt exfoliates really well without being too rough thanks to all the hydrating oils, and after leaving the scrub on for five minutes to let all the green goodness sink in, my skin was left feeling so soft and smooth.  It rinses really easily and leaves no mess which I appreciated, and since all the ingredients melt away, it is completely safe to go straight down the drain.

While the instructions do say you can use this on your face, I haven't tried that as coconut oil does not agree with that area of my body.  However, if your skin is less sensitive, this could be a great addition to any facial!

Ingredients: Pink Himalayan Salt, Epsom Salt, Coconut Oil, Rose Floral Water, Vitamin E Oil, Rose Otta Essential Oil, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, Jojoba Beads

Organii Medium Protection Sun Milk + Free Mini Aftersun + Free SPF 50 Sample (125ml/50ml/5ml - £19.95)

While maybe not the most exciting for everyone, this was probably my favourite product in the box besides the Siskyn body oil -- I have been hunting for an all natural sun cream for ages, and voila, The Natural Beauty Box provides!  And not only is there a full size SPF 20 bottle, but also a handy aftersun and a sachet of the SPF 50 to test out!

I have to be honest and say I am not entirely sure how natural sun protection works -- this is something I have started looking into recently, and I would love to hear what information you eco-beauties have down in the comments.  What I do know is that this works just as well as high street options without having any of the added carcinogens or nasties.  Plus, it smells a whole lot nicer!

The sun milk is thicker than I expected, but goes on smooth, sinks in quickly, and does not leave you feeling too slick or greasy.  It also does not leave the signature white tint to your skin, though I am incredibly pale so that might be different if you have a deeper skin tone.  I have used this on several outings now, and have not gotten a sunburn once -- not even a hint of a burn!  I think this will be a staple in my bag for the summer, as it is so important to reapply every few hours to keep protected from the sun's harmful rays.  So thankful to have a sample of the SPF 50 as well, as it will be a great emergency sachet I can reach for if I forget to pack the full bottle!

Ingredients: aqua (water), dicaprylyl ether, pongamia glabra seed oil, zinc oxide, caprylic/capric triglyceride, polyglyceryl-3 polyricinoleate, glycerin, alcohol*, olea euro¬paea fruit oil, titanium dioxide, oryza sativa bran oil, cocos nucifera oil*, linum usitatissimum oil*, argania spinosa kernel oil*, simmondsia chinensis oil*, mag¬nesium sulphate eptahydrate, magnesium stearate, hydrated silica, pongamol, alumina, tocopherol, helianthus annuus seed oil*, daucus carota root extract*, stearic acid, bisabolol, oryzanol, parfum**, benzyl salicylate, limonene, linalool *ingredients from organic farming **as component of essential oils ***made using organic ingredients

Overall, the Summer Holidays collection from The Natural Beauty Box is worth more than £72 -- nearly three times the amount paid!  This has been one of the most functional boxes I have received so far, and I am incredibly thankful for the thoughtful collection Emma has once again created.
