About Green and Happy Shop:
Founded by Valinda from Green and Happy Mom in 2017, Green and Happy Shop is focused on delivering sustainable alternatives for modern mums and those looking to live a more eco friendly lifestyle. After noticing that reusable options were not widely available in the Netherlands, she decided to take things into her own hands.
Green and Happy Shop is the result of hard work, creativity, and a drive to change the world. The handmade products are designed to cut down on waste, provide easy to use swaps, and last for a long long time. Plus, they will brighten up your home and support a small business at the same time!
The Zero Waste Products:
From reusable baby wipes and cotton rounds to unpaper towels and fabric wrapping paper, Green and Happy Shop has it all! This is a range entirely committed to minimizing single use products and providing eco friendly solutions for the home and on the go.
One thing I love about the selection available is that everything comes in a wide variety of patterns. There are so many designs to choose from, and you're bound to find a print (or five!) that you love. Whether you're into super fun and youthful things like unicorns and patchwork elephants or you like a more contemporary style like black and white geometrics or a galaxy palette, there is something for you.
I was kindly gifted a few products to try out, and honestly it was tough to pick just one or two green goodies as everything that Valinda creates is so cute and practical. However, I was immediately drawn to the monstera design. As you know, I'm a big plant lover, and so I felt these would be the perfect fit for me. They match my aesthetic and passion for watching things grow, and I couldn't help but fall for this plantastic print. And that is how I managed to choose the main product I would be testing from Green and Happy Shop!

Did you know that each year 254 million tons of kitchen roll is tossed each year? As they are classed as contaminated waste, they cannot be recycled and go straight to landfill. Sure, they don't have a big carbon footprint, but they contribute to deforestation, growing mountains of garbage, and the climate catastrophe. A single paper towel doesn't seem like much, but they stack up quickly - so why not make the switch to a more sustainable option that will last a lifetime??
Say goodbye to paper kitchen roll, napkins, and cleaning rags and say hello to reusable alternatives! This isn't actually as new an idea as it first seems if you think about it, as fabric napkins were a staple for a long time and are still present in many high end restaurants. But for some reason single use disposables came into fashion and the cloth squares slowly disappeared... This has been really damaging to forests across the world as trees are torn down to be turned into paper products. But hopefully all that will soon be history, as many are slowly starting to make the swap back to a more sustainable option.
Making this switch can actually be pretty easy and affordable, especially when you think about how much you spend over the course of a year on traditional paper products. Green and Happy Shop has aimed to ease the transition with their zero waste kitchen roll. These cotton squares are super durable and made to last, meaning one set can last you many years. That sure beats a single use disposable! Instead of tossing when finished, you just pop it into the washing machine and clean it with the rest of your clothes. Seriously, it's that easy.
I also find that these are actually far more absorbent than paper products. The cotton is double layered, and it can pick up a lot of liquid when you have an accidental spill, fully wipe down counters when they need a scrub, help dry dishes, and more. Since these have two different textures, I also noticed you can get double the use out of these unpaper products - the blank softer side is great for gentler tasks, whereas the patterned surface has a bit more grip to it and works well for scrubbing tougher to remove residues. That's something a standard kitchen roll definitely can't do!
And you don't lose any of the convenience with these either which is a big plus. The reusable unpaper towels can be snapped up into a roll and used just like the traditional version, or if you would rather skip plastic altogether you can opt for 'naked' versions. If you do want to store your new zero waste swap on a stand, Green and Happy Shop sells a
starter insert that will fit most kitchen roll holders, and this means you can wrap your squares up with ease. Personally this is how I like it, as it is easier to just grab and clean - plus it looks SO CUTE.
I'm really impressed by the quality of the Zero Waste Paper Towels from Green and Happy Shop so far, and they are holding up so well. I was worried the white parts of the fabric would stain really quickly, but so far they have washed out nicely. Just be sure to not let them sit for too long if you have mopped up pasta sauce and all should be okay. I'm definitely a big fan of these unpaper products, and if I ever need more I will be returning for another set or two!
I was treated to an extra surprise with my order from Green and Happy Shop, and it is one that is super versatile and handy - the Zero Waste Unpaper Towels!
Ideal for anything you might need a paper product for, these cloth squares are the ultimate multi-tasker. Need a handkerchief? Here you go! Searching for a reusable wipe? Look no further. Wanting a napkin for al-fresco dining? These have you sorted. There are so many ways to use these cotton towels, so getting creative will only increase their value!
I like how sturdy these zero waste cloths are, and the smaller size makes them super easy to store, travel with, and use for a variety of purposes. I also like how my bundle is monochromatic but the stack is actually in a gradient - you get three shades of grey, and I just think this is such a nice touch.
Overall the Green and Happy Shop's reusable unpaper towels are just a miniature version of the kitchen roll, and I think the simplicity really works. These are such effective products, and make for a great sustainable swap.
I've really enjoyed testing the Green and Happy Shop range, and have found two new greener living staples for my house. You know I love trying out zero waste products, and I'm all about swapping unsustainable items for ones that are kinder to the planet, so this selection is a perfect fit for me. Plus, the monstera design is so special! If you have a plant lover in your life, this pattern could make the perfect gift (if you could stand giving them away - I mean, they're so cute!).
I will definitely be browsing Green and Happy Shop again when I need more eco friendly alternatives. I'm especially excited about the zero waste wrapping paper - normally I repurpose packaging I have collected throughout the year, but the prints available for this reusable paper is super adorable and it will save so much unnecessary waste. Have you tried anything like that yet??
