The Natural Beauty Box: Good Enough To Eat

Now, I love dessert -- dark chocolate, a macaron (or three), cheesecake... basically if it is found on the pudding menu, I am all for it.  So when I heard that the March collection from The Natural Beauty Box was themed around being "Good Enough To Eat" I was immediately excited and counting down the days until all the lovely treats arrived.  When my doorbell went this morning I have to admit I ran to the door!  It was so worth that embarrassing sprint.

As always the box was packed perfectly - I love all the personal touches and the care that is shown to have gone into each and every package.  This month's tissue paper is a chocolate brown, which goes perfectly with the tasty treats theme.  I also appreciate the extra discount cards included this time -- although more about that later!

This month's box has six items, five of which are full size, and all themed around delicious scents (and tastes!).  While I do not always think overall box value makes or breaks a subscription service, especially if you cannot use the majority of the 'high value' products, The Natural Beauty Box never fails to impress me with the balance between quality, quantity, and the worth vs price paid.  For March, the total value is over £64 and I will be using every single one of the products included.

I have already played around with all of these goodies (though I am saving the chocolate for this evening - such willpower right?!), and there is not a single one that I dislike - they all smell divine, all feel luscious and luxurious, and I think they all work really well together to treat winter-worn skin.  I was also super happy at all the tin and glass packaging this month -- I am trying to cut down on the amount of waste I generate, so this was a welcome surprise!

One of my favourite things about The Natural Beauty Box is the variety in both types of items as well as brands, and this month is no different.  There is a great mix of luxury and artisan names represented here, with P&G, Skin Alchemists, Heavenly Organics, Kokomelt, and Aura Organics (plus the sweet vegan treat from Raven which I am now going to be looking for everywhere in town!).  While subscription services can be hit or miss for many, I personally love how they give me the opportunity to discover something new -- which after trying SO many things, is not always easy to find something truly unique!  This is why I was so excited to see a few products that were totally unknown to me previously, like the hand scrub cubes.

The first item I decided to try out was the hand scrub from Kokomelt, as I have never before seen an item quite like this.  When you open the tin you see a bunch of little cubes, almost like demerara, and the scent of  sweet lavender hits you.  Rather than a traditional scrub which you scoop out and use, Kokomelt has crafted individual portions so you can simply pick one up and use it without any faffing or mess.  I was expecting the cube to be difficult to use, but it melted really quickly and easily, and worked perfectly as a gentle exfoliation and moisture boost all in one.  There was no product left in my sink basin afterwards, and my hands still feel really nourished and smell amazing even twenty minutes later.  Plus, for £3.50 for the mini pot, this is a super affordable product.  I think Kokomelt cubes will become a repeat buy for myself to be honest!

Ingredients: Sucrose (Dark Muscovado Sugar), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Lavandula Hybrida (Lavandin) Oil

Next up for me was the lip balm by Aura Organics, as I was keen to see how the chocolate and orange smell worked together.  I am not a big fan of fruity chocolates, and I usually dislike anything that smells like a Terry's chocolate orange, but I was pleasantly surprised this time.  The orange is not overpowering, and the cocoa butter really comes through.  You have to scrape the balm out, as it is really compact in the tin, but once it is applied it warms up and goes on really smoothly.  I was surprised to see this lip balm has a bit of a tint to it - not anything too dramatic, but it definitely adds a warm tone to your lips.  It isn't sticky, and it feels really moisturizing without being heavy or oily.  Another thumbs up from me!

Ingredients: Organic Dark Cocoa Butter, Almond Wax, Organic Coconut oil, Organic Almond Oil,
Hemp Wax, Organic Caster Oil, Organic Jojoba oil, Organic Chocolate Extract Flavour, organic Sweet
Orange oil, Vitamin E natural Stimulated

When I first saw the body souffle from Pink & Green Skincare I was not sure if I would get on with it, as I usually opt for body balms or oils.  I do not like most body lotions as I find they are too 'wet' when applied, and don't often do too much for my skin.  Luckily, this product is not like that at all, but is instead almost a hybrid between a butter and a balm.  The whipped shea butter is very rich, yet it sinks in so quickly and has left my legs feeling incredibly soft.  Plus, it is sourced directly from a women's co-op without using any solvents - I love that I can trust that my skin is not absorbing any nasty additives.  And as an added bonus, the souffle smells absolutely delicious. This might actually be my favourite scent out of all the items!

This product actually has more to the story than just it's delectable scent and silky smoothness -

"The Marzipan Body Souffle, has been designed exclusively for sale to support a long-term trauma based therapy aftercare programme for survivors of sex trafficking .
Safe From Slavery, the anti-human trafficking charity and Pink and Green Organic Skincare have launched this collaborative project with the aim to revive, rejuvenate and restore women victims of sex slavery.
For more information about Safe From Slavery and how you can become involved in helping victims of human trafficking, visit www.safefromslavery.com "

When a brand gets behind a cause such as this, I am 100% supportive, thankful, and just plain happy for the work they are doing.  When this runs out, I plan on buying a second tub come summer, partially for the intensely moisturizing qualities and the amazing smell, but mainly because P&G have crafted something great in order to aid survivors of sex trafficking.  That is a cause I want to be a part of.

Ingredients: Organic African Shea Butter, Organic Plum Seed Oil

The fourth item in the March "Almost Good Enough To Eat" collection is from Heavenly Organics Skincare.  Their peppermint foot balm is seriously something else, as it is not only a high quality product, but is exquisitely handmade.  Seriously, the detail on this balm is unlike anything I have seen before.  It is hard to stand out in the beauty world with so many similar products on the market, but the care that has been put into just this one little pot really shows and makes this stand out.  I love everything about it, from the fragrant peppermint (which is ideal for soothing tired feet!) to the simplicity of the packaging.  One amazing thing about this item is that you can buy refills and have them sent in a compostable bag so there is zero waste!

Heavenly Organics states that "hours of research will go into sourcing of items such as recycled paper tape to package our parcels.  This may be considered by some as unimportant but to us every item has an impact on the planet's resources and survival.  We want this precious world to thrive and we will continue to do our best to help."  I find this level of dedication exactly what I look for in an ethical beauty brand, so I will definitely be buying from their shop soon!

Ingredients: heobroma cacao (Cocoa) seed butter organic, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea) tree butter organic, Mentha piperita (Peppermint) leaf extract organic, Limonene*, Linalool*. *Occurring naturally in essential oils.

In terms of value, the pièce de résistance has to be the salt scrub from Skin Alchemists.  With an RRP of £34, this item itself is worth more than the price of the box.  I was a little unsure about how 'scrubby' The Gorgeous Soldier would be, as it is so compact within the jar.  It looks entirely smooth, and unlike any salt-based exfoliant I have used before, probably due to the high coconut and cacao seed butter content.  However, once you scoop some out and start to use it, it definitely gives a gentle but effective buffing.  This has the potential to become a favourite of mine, and not just because it smells of chocolate.  My skin felt much more nourished and taken care of after using than most of the other body microdermabrasions I have tested, and my skin was not irritated at all by the scrubbing.  I think this would be perfect year round, and since a little seems to go a long way, the price isn't actually all that much.  Another win!

Ingredients: Sodium chloride (Hawaiian Red Alaea Sea Salt), *Cocos nucifera oil (Virgin Coconut Oil), *Theobroma cacao seed butter (Cocoa Butter), *Macadamia ternifolia seed oil (Macadamia seed oil), *Orbignya oleifera seed oil (Babassu Oil), *Prunus amygdalus dulcis seed oil (Sweet Almond Oil), *Simmondsia chinensis seed oil ( Golden Jojoba), Cocos nucifera shell powder (Coconut shell powder), Helianthus annuus seed oil (Sunflower seed oil), Tocopherol (Plant derived Vitamin E), *Theobroma cacao seed powder (Raw Cacao powder), Vanilla planifolia fruit extract (Vanilla extract)

Overall I am highly impressed with this month's box from The Natural Beauty Box.  I honestly wasn't sure how February's "Flower Power" collection would be topped, but everything included is just so brilliant and well-chosen, and everything is definitely "Good Enough To Eat."  Plus, this month we have loads of discount codes available to use on the featured brands.  I love little extras such as this, as it really helps with testing out new products without feeling too guilty about your bank balance.  I think I will be

  12. Almost Good Enough To Eat is the perfect name for this selection as they all sound so good. I've been eyeing up the foot balm to use in reflexology but I think it will be too small so fear I'd use up a whole block in 3 clients. I will definitely be trying them in the future though.
