Love Lula Beauty Box: March 2018

It is the second week of March, so of course that means another Love Lula Beauty Box unboxing!  I always look forward to hearing my postie drop of this bundle of natural goodies, and this time is no different.  In fact, this has to be one of my top rated collections from Love Lula yet!

No Madara or Urban Veda will be found in your parcel this month, and you will actually be trying a few brands that have not been featured in the beauty boxes before (at least not in the fourteen months since I have been subscribed!).  Welcome Sukin, Laidbare, Elsa's, FOM, and Glossworks!

I was so excited to see the full size deodorant stick from Elsa's Organic Skin Foods, as this is one of the few I have not yet tried.  This all natural deodorant is suitable for both men and women, and comes in four scents: Ocean, Dew, Love, and Sensitive (which is fragrance free actually).  I love the smell of the one I received, and am keen to see how it fairs compared to the other balms, sprays, roll-ons, and powders I have tested.  I have high hopes, as tea tree is perfect for protecting against bacteria that cause odors, and peppermint is such a refreshing essential oil that works simultaneously as an anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory (great for those who shave their underarms!).

Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Maranta Arundinacea (Arrowroot) Powder*, Ricinus Communis (Castor Bean) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Magnesium Oxide, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candellila) Wax, Himalayan Pink Salt, Kaolin Clay, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil, Limonene, Linalool, Citronellol, Geraniol, Citral. *Certified Organic, naturally occurring in essential oils.

Glossworks was the second best surprise for me, as this is one of the new spring shades I did not buy myself at the beginning of the month.  I love Glossworks because not only is it affordable, but it does not include any of the nine most common nasties (formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, DBP, camphor, parabens, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, and lead).  Plus, the brand is vegan!

"Come Clay With Me" is a warm, pink/tan shade, not quite a nude, and almost verging on a gentle mauve.  I honestly love it, and it was one of the colours I was regretting not buying.  Similar to Zoya's "Rue," it makes for a perfect office mani, or when dressed up a little with glitter/shimmer/holo is great for making a look really pop.  I cannot wait to play around with this and see what looks I can create!

Ingredients: butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, nitrocellulose, acetyl tributyl citrate, isopropyl alcohol, isobutyl acetate, adipic acid/neopentyl glycol/trimellitic anhydride copolymer, styrene/acrylates copolymer, sucrose benzoate, stearalkonium bentonite, phthalic anhydride/ trimellitic anhydride/glycols copolymer, CI 77891 (titanium dioxide), benzophenone-1, acrylates copolymer, butylene glycol, aqua, CI 77491 (iron oxides), aluminum hydroxide, triethoxycaprylylsilane, CI 19140 (yellow 5 lake), helianthus annuus seed oil, nelumbo nucifera flower extract, tocopherol,

I have only used one FOM London product before (the Hydra Plump and Firm Cream from a previous Love Lula box) so I was excited to see this generous sample of the Hydra Bright in this March edition.  Especially after the winter we have been having, I think this night complex treatment could do wonders for my dull skin.  It smells pleasant (very lightly of geranium) and so far seems pretty light on the skin, so I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this works over the next few weeks!

Laidbare has appeared again and again in the Love Lula boxes, but this is one brand I am always happy to see.  While the "Guess My Age" cream will definitely be too heavy for me, it will be perfect for my partner and he is always happy for some extra pampering.  The treatment cream is anti-ageing, so will be ideal for more mature skin, and it can be combined with the previous "Working 9 to 5" moisturizer we have received in the past.  I do honestly wish I could keep this one for myself because it is so mouth watering when you open the jar -- it is like summer I swear!  Lemons and flowers and tart is the best way I can describe it.

Sukin is a brand I am very familiar with, but surprisingly enough have not ever used.  I always find an excuse to not try their products (ingredients, or having too many items to use up, or timing..), so I was happy to see these in the March box.  I am also very pleased that Love Lula provided both the conditioner AND the shampoo, as there is nothing more frustrating than having only one to experiment with.  In terms of ingredients, I am actually pretty happy with what I see in both products, as neither contain sulphates, parabens, or other common toxic fillers, and I am looking forward to potentially have a substitute for my JMO which has had a change in formula making it no longer an option for me.

Update: I've noticed since that this includes phenoxyethonal which I am incredibly sensitive to, so unfortunately I won't be able to use these - I wish I could! Hopefully this common preservative becomes less used in the future as it really messes with my skin, leaving it red and very painful.

Overall I think Love Lula smashed it with this box, and while the value is not as hefty as the last few months, I am very happy with the actual contents.  Worth a healthy £43.00 this time around, and containing three full size and three deluxe samples, this box is definitely one I would not like to miss.  I can't wait to see what the next month brings, and look forward to hopefully trying out some more brands that have not been featured in previous editions!

I will be updating in two weeks with how I am getting on with everything, but I hope you have enjoyed my first thoughts and reactions to this month's Love Lula Beauty Box.  If you are subscribed, what is your favourite item from this edition?  And if you are not subscribed, which item would you most like to try?

You can subscribe to the Love Lula Beauty Box on a rolling monthly subscription, or you can pay an upfront fee for a 3, 6, or 12 month package!  And remember, when you subscribe you get a 20% discount on all brands in the box each month -- I am thinking I will use mine to grab some more Glossworks!

  3. I am so excited to read this post - I love my Love Lula boxes too, and just like you, I also think this box is great, despite not getting mine yet :) I am in Ireland, and we usually get boxes about a week later. Not that I mind. I won't have Glossworks, as I am outside UK, but I am excited to try everything else, especially Elsa's deodorant. Take care xo
